A Toronto photography studio’s lighting grid was improperly rigged to the ceiling truss, old curtain tracks were not properly supported and showed signs of bending. The grid was completely re-hung on aircraft cable anchor points with turnbuckles and batten clamps. During this process, all the un-rated, threaded grid pipe connections were cut-out and replaced with rated pipe splices. New curtain tracks were installed, hung directly to the roof truss and stiffened to the building structure to remove lateral movement. This work allowed for an Engineer approved overhead load rating on the grid.
